Cider with Evans

Luke's Cider

A newish cider producer with a young cider maker from the look of the photos, but 2 top notch ciders it has to be said. Both ciders are west country style but with a bit of sparkle that would appeal to the newer cider drinker (and older ones don't mind it as well).

The Original Sin is a good smooth session cider and the Infernal Serpent is slightly sharper. The ratings here are very subjective and just reflect my personal taste, both are well worth trying.

Only shame is that the cider comes in small 330ml cans and that option is quite expensive compared to other producers that sell in 500ml bottles. Worth splashing out for it though.

Infernal Serpent

Dry

I love the label designs on these even though they're tins. Appropriately I tried this on All Hallow's eve.

Golden, hazy and sparkling.

Slightly sour farmyard cider nose, but not unpleasant sour, it's what you could expect.

Yup, good slightly sour (some call it funky) citrussy, rich traditional cider flavour with lots of fermented apples, rapidly mellowing to a nice bittersweet lingering aftertaste. Fair amount of tannin, but again quickly mellows leaving a nice refreshed wetness in the mouth.

It's a dry cider but mainly because of the initial tannin hit overall I'd say it's closer to other Medium Dry ones I've tried.

I like that. Far to easily drinkable for 6.2%; perhaps for once it's useful to have it in a small tin...

Original Sin

Medium

Dark gold hazy sparkling.

Straight traditional cider nose.

Very pleasant deep traditional cider taste with plenty of fruit. Not much tannin, bittersweet and smooth. Nice long lingering aftertaste with a touch of dryness but leaves a mouthwatering ending

Again a very good session cider, very easy to drink. slightly more to my taste than the Infernal Serpent but both are very good.
