Cider with Evans

Hare Moon

Shropshire based and I picked these up while we were over there on holiday, and you'll have to do the same as they don't seem to have an online shop yet.

I only picked up 2 bottles, a still and sparkling version of the same medium dry. Both obviously has a very similar flavour, the difference being that the sparkling was more refreshing, but possibly less easy drinking.

Both were fairly dry for a medium dry IMO but not badly so. I'd certainly drink both again.

Sparkling Medium Dry Cider

Medium Dry

I'm intrigued how their Traditional medium dry is so much stronger than their sparkling...

Amber yellow, clear and slightly sparkling. Not as sparkling as I'd expected but it's enough.

That slightly floral grassy herby wild yeast nose which always reminds me of nettles.

Similar for the flavour, herby and grassy with a fresh apple background. Fair amount of tannin for a medium dry but you certainly do get the sparkling on the tongue as you drink it. Fruity through to the rather pleasant aftertaste that is quite refreshing and mouth watering.

Not bad at all, more than happy to drink more, but could have been a bit more sparkling IMO and I must confess that nettle flavour is not quite for me.

Traditional Still Medium Dry Cider

Medium Dry

Golden, clear and Still (obviously)

Slightly less herby nose than the sparkling, it's slightly sharper with a bit more phenol.

Flavour wise it's very similar to the sparkling, nettle with a fair amount of tannin again for a medium dry, but it's a lot smoother than the sparkling. Lovely long aftertaste again, but not quite as refreshing I think.

Both the sparkling and still are obviously similar. The sparkling is more refreshing but I think the still is easier drinking. Both are well worth a try
