Cider with Evans

Farmer Jim's Cider

A third generation cider maker from Devon. I've come across their ciders at beer festivals and at the odd pub although you can buy directly from them but only in bag in boxes.

I've been impressed with the 2 I've tried so far so it's a fair bet the rest of the range would be good.

Medium Cider

Medium

Golden, clear & flat

Very farmyard nose... Takes getting used to.

Taste is a lot nicer than the nose. Farmyard and straw yes, but lots of rich apple pulp. Quite fresh and a sweet honey note off the side of the tongue. Lovely long smooth sweetish aftertaste with lots of fruit and a fair amount of honey.

That’s a very nice cider at 5% you could easily do a session on that. Don’t get put off by the nose...

Farmyard Perry

Medium

Cloudy, straw yellow and flat (sorry the photo is out of focus)

Light Perry nose with lots of fresh straw

Big sweet pear mouthful. Very reminiscent of a pie basically down to the hints of vanilla. To me a hint of blackberry. Lovely long aftertaste.

Nice. Sweet but not dreadfully so to me. Nothing complex there but very easy to drink and full of flavour.
