Cider with Evans

Brooks and Conquest Cyder

1050

Sweet

Golden, cloudy and flat even from the bottle

Slightly sharp burnt honey nose

Interesting flavour. Deep sweet honey with a slight sharpness to make it slightly more balanced, but it is very much on the sweet side and is a bit on the sickly side for me. Not a bad little aftertaste. And it does grab you at the back of the throat

It’s brewed as a premium cider, but I’m afraid it doesn’t quite get there for me.

Cambridge Gold

Medium

Straw colour, cloudy and flat

Quite a strong sulfite/yeasty nose

Sadly the bottle I had was spoilt by 'mouse' - a strong biscuit flavour (people say it resembles mouse urine hence the name) which shows a bacterial infection. Shame. Not something I'd expect from something bottled as a premium cider mind.
