Cider with Evans

Brays Cider

A hundred year old cider maker originally from Devon but now in Somerset. They're not widely known and have a very small range of ciders (not a bad thing), but I was very impressed with the 2 I tried

Sparkling Medium

Medium

Golden, clear and sparkling

Farmyard nose, slightly tart, slightly oak

Ooh different and very nice. Slightly tart bittersweet apples bursting with fresh pulp and a touch of vanilla. Not a huge amount of tannin. Quite sparkling on the tongue and grabs the back of the throat with a slightly bitter tart aftertaste.

I really rate that cider. Very easy to drink and would be cracking on a hot summer’s day.

Sparkling Sweet

Sweet

Light golden colour, clear and sparkling.

Farmyard tart nose with a hint of honey in the background.

Interesting. You have a slight tartness in the background but a lot of honey sweetness in the foreground. Lots of apple farmyard taste with honey and caramel and a touch of wood. The caramel sticks in the cheeks afterwards, and is not that refreshing.

A bit sweet for me but it’s not dreadful. Might get a bit sickly after a pint or 2 unless you like the sweet ones.
