Cider with Evans

Pant Du Cider

One of the few cider makers in North Wales based in the Nantlle Valley, Snowdonia. Pant Du Cider is pressed from traditional cider apples and Welsh variety apples.

Dry/Sych

Dry

Dark copper yellow, clear and sparkling.

Heavy acidic yeasty nose.

Interesting deep earthy taste. Dry but not tannic. Goes down quite well. Good straight dry cider. Refreshing but not a huge aftertaste.

Might be worth seeing what the rest of the range is like. Would happily drink a few pints but not order in bulk.

Rhubarb

Medium

Yellow, slightly hazy and sparkling.

Lots of sediment so be careful with the pour.

Not a huge rhubarb nose but it is there as a sharp sour rhubarb tang.

Definitely rhubarb in the flavour and it’s a real rhubarb taste as well, not the oversweet artificial taste you usually get. It’s a light refreshing flavour as well you get a medium sweet apple cider but that’s balanced out by a nice tang from the rhubarb. Lovely long smooth mouth watering aftertaste where the rhubarb hangs around and if anything gets stronger.

One of the better rhubarb ciders I’ve had. You could easily drink many of these without getting bored as it has a good mix of sweet and tart.

I tried this in 2022 and wasn't impressed so they've improved this significantly in the 2 years

Cymharol Sych / Medium Dry

Medium Dry

Golden clear sparkling

Big apple flesh nose with a touch of honey

Very nice. Fairly big farmyard hit initially but that freshens very quickly to a lot of fruit with a touch of honey sweetness. Slight tartness to balance it all out and a great cheek filling refreshing aftertaste. A little bit of tannin but what you’d expect and not huge.

That is a really tasty interesting refreshing cider. Ticks all the boxes for me and I'd certainly have many more.
