Cider with Evans

Cwm Maddoc

A very small Herefordshire cider producer that is very unusual in that it publishes the exact details of how they make their ciders on https://hollow-ash.co.uk/tales-from-the-smallholding/. I wish more did that. Sadly no online sales but you can get them fairly widely in online cider shops.

Turners Farm Cider

Medium Dry

Straw yellow, clear and sparkling – bottle conditioned

Let the initial very yeasty nose dissipate and you end up with a fresh Perry nose - not hugely pear like but it’s there.

Interesting flavour. Fresh and green taste. Fair amount of grapefruit in there as they say on the bottle, fairly astringent but not overly so. Strange little aftertaste where it goes metallic for the want of a better word. Not unpleasant but different. Slight bitter finish.

Not bad at all. I was not expecting anything quite so fresh but it’s very easy to drink. Sadly grapefruit is not one of my favourite flavours, but don't let that hold you back.
