Cider with Evans

Apple County Cider Company

Picked these 2 bottles in a little farm shop on our way to a holiday in Wales, so I haven't tried their mail order yet but intend to. Big choice of single variety apple and pear ciders and if the 2 we tried are anything to go by then they're worth trying.

Browns

Medium Dry

Made from 100% bittersharp Browns apple. Yellow Green clear and sparkling.

Pungent slightly yeasty nose. Solid dry flavour with a hint of tobacco. Slightly tart and sour but not unpleasant. Nice long aftertaste with a good apple taste. Uses winemaker yeast which adds something.

Dabinett

Medium

Golden yellow, clear. Good long lasting fizz.

Gentle sweet apple smell.

Good well rounded apple flavour and rolls off the tongue nicely. Has a little hint of cinnamon and spice like an apple cake. Bittersweet nice long clean aftertaste.

Very nice indeed

Blakeney Red Perry

Medium

Golden, clear and sparkling

The usual Blakeney Red nose, slightly floral but a huge sweet honeyish apple pulp smell.

And the taste is indeed what you'd expect: Slight Honeysuckle alongside the pear, but the pear is very mouth filling. Plenty of flavour there, with a slight woodiness to round it off. No tannin of course, but a nice long lingering refreshing aftertaste.

Good standard little Perry. A little bit sweet for a medium I think, but if you're ok with sweet ciders it's perfectly drinkable
