Hunts Devon Cider

Thrasher

Medium Dry

Amber yellow, clear, very sparkling.

Fairly gentle fresh nose. Not hugely of apples, but nice and fresh.

Good solid green apple taste but with a slight sulphite tang. That goes quite quickly though and you get some floral. That old homebrew wine flavour. Not the biggest of apple flavours, quite dry. Not much else to say about it really. I didn't find it that thirst quenching I admit.

Fairly sticks to the teeth tannic, that I don’t find it easy drinking I have to say.

Wobbler

Medium

Golden and clear

Not the most pleasant nose. I’ll call it farmyard to be polite but mild gents urinal is more descriptive.

Taste wise though it’s fine. Yes dry farmyard with a fair amount of straw. Fair amount of tannin and dryish for a medium. Fruit comes out in the middle with a touch of leather and Caramel and you get a fairly light aftertaste.

I confess I had this on top of a sweetish Perry so took a while for the taste to settle as others refer to it being sweeter. It isn’t bad if you can get past the smell which is quite off putting at first but you get used to it. Nobody else mentions that in reviews so it could be a one off.

Barn Screecher

Dry

Golden, flat and clear

Deep apple pulp nose

Good rich flavour here for a dry. There is astringent tannin there and it gets the back of the cheeks but it doesn’t dry out the apple pulp flavour, which is unusual and very nice. It sweetens nicely in the long mouth watering aftertaste. Slight leather flavour.

Good and drinkable little dry. Curiously their dry seems to have less Tannin than their other ciders and I find it more drinkable.
